I have wanted to have upper lid eyelid surgery for some years as it is a genetic aging trait in my family but was anxious about the procedure, recovery and results of such sensitive and delicate surgery. I don't think I am the easiest candidate in the first instance as I am an artist and as such we are highly meticulous as our profession demands so much detail and precision in all that we do. I am exceedingly fortunate to have been in the capable hands of Dr Richard Scawn. He is an extraordinary and yet humble surgeon. In the first instance Dr Scawn is affable and approachable and easy to talk to you and not only listens but hears what you tell him. He has a calm approach and gives you just enough information not to make you too nervous but to still be fully informed. However, his surgical skill is close to miraculous and even with my forensic eye I found it hard to see not only the former issue but any surgical handiwork. Beautiful, natural work which will give me new vigour in the next chapter of my life. I am very grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone undertaking what is challenging but a highly beneficial decision. Michele Quastel

Superb care from start to (not quite finished yet). I suffered from thyroid eye and as such, the swellings around my eyes had altered my appearance to a degree where I would not let photos be taken of me. I also suffered from double vision due to the same condition. From the initial care, through IV steroid and radiotherapy treatment, Mr Scawn and his nurse, Anna, were always available with support and understanding. Having had my lower eyelids operated on in December last year, I am over the moon with the results. No swellings anymore, no visible scars and I feel so much better already. Now on the waiting list for my upper eyelids. Mr Scawn has a superb manner and really cares about how his patients feel and what they are going through.

I’m a male in my mid-forties and have been contemplating blepharoplasty surgery for several years. Even after a good night’s sleep my eyelids felt heavy and tired and friends would often comment that I looked run down. I also became aware that in photos my eyes looked partially closed and I started to become very self-conscious. It got to a point where I decided I wanted to explore surgery. My plan was to visit two surgeons and go with the one I felt most confidence with. I came across Mr Richard Scawn who was featured in Tattler magazine. On meeting Mr Scawn I felt immediately at ease, such a nice guy, he carefully listened to my concerns and was very clear in explaining what he could do to help, with an emphasis on keeping my look natural. I felt so confident having met him I didn’t need to see a second surgeon. The whole process was excellent, I’m three weeks post-surgery and already I’m thoroughly delighted with the results, I feel it’s really freshened my look and no more tired feeling heavy eye lids. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Richard Scawn and his team, they were genuinely warm, caring and thoroughly professional. My only regret was not getting this surgery done years ago.

In a nutshell, my whole experience from start to finish with Richard Scawn and his team has been excellent. I had been thinking about upper eyelid blepharoplasty for 12 months or more because not only was the loose skin above my eyes making me look tired but the heaviness was actually making me feel tired. I spoke initially to Richard's PA, Anna, who was extremely helpful and able to give me lots of useful information and reassurance. At the consultation, Richard examined my eyes and my eyelids and took measurements and photographs. I found him open, honest, warm and realistic. He listened to my concerns and addressed them all and talked me through the procedure and the recovery. It's clear when you're listening to him that, as a surgeon, he's experienced, competent and confident and as a person he's interested, calm and caring. 10 weeks on and I am delighted with the results which have honestly exceeded my expectations. Almost every time I catch myself in a mirror, I have to smile because it's made such a positive difference and yet it looks completely natural. If you're hesitating about eyelid surgery like I was, I'd say just do it and, without reservation, I would recommend Richard Scawn to carry out the procedure for you.
